Port Orange Comes to Pamper the Pastors

Posted on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News

It is always exciting when a group comes in and focuses on the Pastors and their families.  Port Orange came in to do a Pastor and family conference, revival, and spend a day with the youth in the Brigade (which is like a youth / scout / marching band) group.  Our Haitian pastors spend their time shepherding and serving the local flock, what a joy to have a group come in and shepherd and serve them.
The week started out getting ready for the conference and the banquet.  The pastors and their families came and stayed at the Nan Lundy church.  There were classes for the pastors, the wives, and their children.  Each class focused especially for that particular group.  I know it was nice for them to get fed spiritually.
Then came the banquet for the Pastors and their wives.  The group went to a lot of extra care to make sure that it was a special night for them.  They decorated the mission group area with candles, special table decorations, soft music playing in the background.  A special dinner was prepared and the group served them.  They then had games …

Getting Settled…

One Truck and One Crate
You have heard of two men and a truck for moving well let us tell you how to furnish a house with a truck and a crate.
The longer we serve as missionaries the more God shows us how we can do with less and still be perfectly happy.
As you know Teresa and I started with a new mission in February this year.  In the mission house there were two rooms available for us to claim and furnish and make our “living quarters”.  We made one a bedroom and one a living room/office.  With some funds from us, family, and friends and a lot of hard work and expertise of Danny, Teresa’s brother, along with a little help from Sams and IKEA, we found out you can furnish two rooms quite well from a crate.
In seven days we painted the two rooms and a bathroom. Danny built a bed, 3 shelves, a desk, 3 towel racks, 3 clothes racks, a pulpit, a picture frame, refurbished a vanity and fixed the plumbing. Teresa and I assembled 2 chairs and foot stools, 2 rocking chairs, a closet, 2 …

Praise God for Adding to His Kingdom

Posted on Wednesday, April 6th, 2011, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News, Mike

Sunday morning found us heading up the mountain to the Casetashe Christian Church. A beautiful ride up the mountain along the coast and then we headed inland to get to the Church.  I had the privilege of sharing God’s Word with them as I spoke from 1 Peter chapter one. I reminded them of the hope we have in Christ if we stand firm as our faith is refined by fire.  The greatest Joy came after the service was over and we headed down the mountain to the river for four baptisms. The preacher had taught them well and 4 were ready to be baptized into Christ.  We loaded up the truck and started making our way down the mountain. As we were about to begin the baptisms a teen-age girl came down the path and asked if she could be baptized also. Well it turns out she had walked down the mountain by herself because she was so eager to be baptized. Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!
Praise the Lord, God has 5 new children who were born again and adopted into His family on March 27, 2011.

Victory in Jesus…

Posted on Monday, October 11th, 2010, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News, Mike

Yesterday after church a woman, Saint-Fonie Petit-frere,  decided to be a follower of Christ.  But what makes this even more amazing is that Saint-Fonie is a Mambo (a female Voodoo Priest).  We left after church services with  most of the church congregation and walked to her house singing hymns the entire time.  When we got to her house she wanted Mike and the leaders to pray for her.
They wanted me to go in and take some pictures.  As I stepped into the small room in her house the smell of liqour was very strong.  I felt strange coming in and taking pictures of the things that she used in her voodoo ceremonies.  There were things hanging from the wooden rafters, and there were books, cards, dolls, knives, liqour bottles, drum, a skull (and things that I have no idea what they really represented) but after that they prayed again for this house to become a house of God instead of a house of Satan.
They placed everything outside the room and then began to sweep it clean.  They made sure to get every piece of paper that had writing on it, …

Fall Forward

Posted on Friday, October 8th, 2010, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News

As the season of Fall is celebrated and looked forward to we to are looking forward to changes as well.  Here on the Beauchamp campus we are again seeing changes.  Construction is continuing for the parsonage of  Pastor Luke’s new house.  Thanks to Community Christian Church in Fairfield Township, Ohio for providing Pastor Luke and his family with this new home.   They are also sending in a team this month to help in the finishing work on the outside of the church building.  We again welcome Community Christian’s group to Beauchamp to continue the ministry started here 3-1/2 years ago.
The construction of a pharmacy is also underway.  This was started in August with the First Christian Church of Orlando, Florida and Capital Area Christian Church from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  Both of these construction projects should be done by the end of this month.
We will also be welcoming a group from Emanuel Christian Church from Stoneboro, Pennsylvania as they go to Nan Chapelle to begin a Neighbor’s Project there.  They will be doing a survey of the community and begin the construction of the Pastor’s house there.  We will also celebrate …

“Not 1 – Not 2 – But 3 Youth Rallies!”

Posted on Monday, July 26th, 2010, by Teresa under Evangelism

In 2009 we did our first Youth Rally at Beauchamp and only allowed the churches to invite 10 youth because we could not handle all the sleeping arrangements and water issues. We had 80 to 90 in attendance. The rally lasted for a couple days and it was a great success.

One thing we know at the Mission is that we need to do more with the Youth in Haiti. The children and the adults tend to have a lot more things offered for them and the Youth seem to be overlooked. So this year we wanted to top what we did last year. We wanted to reach more Youth and to branch out from Beauchamp and branch out we did.

John Lancaster officially known stateside as “Phat Rok,” and in Haiti as “Gros Roche,” — brought in his posse from Huntsville, Alabama and they went to work. They arrived in Beauchamp on Tuesday and on Thursday they were in tap-taps traveling to the mountain community of Pillette hosting the first Youth Rally of 2010. Three of our mission churches attended this rally with 150 youth in attendance. Then came …

Mare Rouge — New Church Plant

Posted on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News, Mike

Blogging is not my thing but I know it is important. I have two great stories to blog about and they both have to do with what I love and feel is the most important work in the world — evangelism. Preaching and teaching others about Christ—sowing the seed—letting God give the increase— saving souls is our number 1 priority. There is nothing more important in this world than preparing people for eternity. Satan sure likes us to focus on other things, some are even good things, but may we always remember Jesus’ last words before He departed. — Matt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matt. 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Now that my mini sermon is thru on with the two great stories. Last Wenesday we started with our crusade in Mare Rouge. Mare Rouge is out toward the west end of the  northern penisula part of the island. The city …

God’s Planting Continues…

Posted on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News, Mike

As I write this post this morning I am trying to think of some clever thing to say — we’ll it’s just not there so we’ll just talk about the things God puts before us and the work we are really called to do.

Friday morning we are heading out to Mare Rouge — a new church plant.  The crusade starts Wednesday night and will continue through Sunday.  That is the way we do the crusades here in Haiti.  These remind of the days when our Restoration Heritage was started long ago in the United States.  People come to see and hear what is going on and with that the Word of God is preached for many to hear.  These crusades are well received here in Haiti and usually many people are won to Christ during this time.  This is also the way that we begin our new church plants.  We have several of our pastors go to the new area and talk to the people of that community, talk to the leaders of the community and scope out the best place to hold the conference and also look for a …

Ministry Continues…

Sunday early evening the bus pulled up bringing us 3 more groups.  This will be the last groups of the summer for Mike and I here in BeauChamp.  The groups from CACC, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Crossbridge, Tallahassee, Florida; Clark Church (Cara Campbell’s group) from Pennsylvania; and our 2 miscellaneous — Pam Dunn from Illinois and Cheryl Julian from —– are ready to serve.  We have groups going to the orphanage to do VBS, sports camp and just hang out.  We are working on the outside kitchen which will be used to prepare the food for our household and staff as well as for the feeding program where we feed 250 people 6 days a week.  cook the food for the BeauChamp campus and groups and it also will cook the food for the feeding program.  This will replace our temporary “tarp” kitchen.  Cara’s group had a party for our gran moun (32 came) and they really enjoyed their lesson, craft and peanut butter sandwiches.  Amy Reed from Seattle, Washington tagged up with the CACC Group to come in and show us a fantastic water filtration system.  She brought in 50 filters and we …

Vogly is getting Married! (Our Haitian son has grown up!)

Posted on Thursday, June 25th, 2009, by Teresa under Evangelism, General News, Mike

For those of you who know Vogly (our Haitian interpreter) — well he is getting married.  He met Ermante Merzuis in BeauChamp.  She is a member of the church and is also in Teresa’s sewing program.  Well the ‘ole love bug bit and it bit hard.  We seldom see him unless he has to be working!  Guess where he is at?
Vogly and Ermante have nothing to get started.  It is our hope and prayer that they can have a nice wedding (they plan to do a small one).  They want to get married at the beginning of July but like most young couples, money is an issue.  We would like for them to have one night in a motel for a honeymoon and then things to help them set up house — a bed, a table, chairs, cooking utensils, etc.
Hopefully Vogly’s house will be completed by the end of summer.  This will be on the property here in BeauChamp at our campus.
Anything you could do to help them out would be greatly appreciated.  Please send your donations to the following and designate for Vogly’s wedding.  We will then get the …
