Goats from heaven sounds a little funny to us but for the Haitian people living in our area they are truly a blessing from above.

The two hurricanes that hit the North West took a heavy toll on the people. Those living in the country lost their gardens and everyone lost some of their farm animals.

Teresa and I were able to bring in money from some very compassionate and gracious brothers and sisters in the states to help. This past October and November we were able to purchase twenty pairs of goats to share with different families in two different churches.

I wish you could have seen their faces and heard their thanksgiving. A pair of goats to them is worth about 6 months wages and it cost folks back in the states about one fancy evening out. (about $75.00.) Our hopes and prayers are that these goats will stay healthy and reproduce so that they can then share these with other families in the church which will continue to help and bless the community for years to come.

We are blessed to have a vet in the church at Beauchamp. He graciously volunteered his time and we held a seminar on animal care for the families. He taught them how to properly feed and care for the animals, and volunteered to help if the animals become sick in the future.

This gift, while seemingly insignificant to some, provides hard-working Haitian families a means to begin sustainable livestock farms. It is our hope and prayer that these goats will be a blessing for years to come, and will have an impact far beyond the initial gift.
